Untitled 1.5.
Yesterday, I was bored and started to read through the old entries of this blog. I came across my story from Untitled 1.1. to Untitled 1.4. -- me and my bestfriend's story.. and before I was able to finish our story, for some reason, we decided to close the blog by the next day. Reading thru it I remember everything me and my bestfriend went through... and it didn't even feel like I wrote it. hahah! It seems like a real good story that I want to share with people.. so here I am.. feeling inspired again... if you'll allow me... here's the continuation.

Untitled 1.5.

I remember that day so well. I thought it was just another ordinary afternoon when Mam G and I would take our snack at KFC. But that day, a fellow co-worker of Mam G joined us... Sir R. We found ourselves talking about work, how Sir R is still unemployed and he is looking for a place abroad to work. He directed a question at me that totally changed my perspective that day. "You have this amazing opportunity to work in the US, how come you don't want to go there?" He said that anybody would die just to take my place. I glanced at my bestfriend and I guess Sir R noticed. He joked that if I'm scared of losing my bestfriend, I can take her with me in the luggage. And my only reaction was to smile and look down. "Kung san ka masaya, suportahan taka," my bestfriend said, (whatever makes you happy, i'll support you.) mimmicking a famous PLDT commercial. "Go bestfriend," she added.

I was 18 and done with college that time, finally got my diploma from my second course at a local college. I didn't want to leave home. I didn't want to leave my friends here. I was okay with working in the Philippines, I've been applying for jobs in Manila... but never got a single interview. I wish someone warned me how depressing it is to look for a job... especially for fresh grads. Plus if there are people around you, bugging you why you still don't have a job... it gets harder. As if you're not trying hard enough.

That same day, my dad called and I took that opportunity to tell him that I've finally decided to move in America. They booked the flight, and by the next week I was ready to go. I only had a few days left to fix my school transcripts, diplomas and say goodbye to friends. The night before my flight, I remember telling my mama, "I'll finally strut at the airport with my very own luggage." while I practice walking around our sala dragging my new luggage. My mama only laughed at me.

On the way to the airport, my bestfriend asked how am I feeling. And honestly, I answered "nothing." I wasn't sad, I wasn't excited, but I was sleepy. I felt like I'm only moving to a different city, so it was not a big deal. It wasn't until we arrived at the departure area and I saw my mama and my bestfriend crying... It was then that realization hit me.. fck, what's gonna happen now? I got inside, and I was holding up fine... until friends started to text or call one by one.. and I really break down and cry at the airport.

"If I asked you to stay, would you do it?"

I stood up and got to the inspector's area... they searched my bag... while I remove my shoes, phone, belt, put it on the conveyor, and went through the metal detector. Finally I showed the passport to one of the airport officers and then he asked,"I hope you're not breaking your boyfriend's heart by being here." then handing out my passport back. I only laughed, "No, sir." And he smiled at me.

I can do this. This is for computer shop me and my bestfriend have always dreamed about.

The year was 2004.
